Al Ahly’s Coach Mohamed Youssef fired | VIDEO

Youth team coach Fathi Mabrouk has replaced Mohamed Youssef as first team coach until the end of the season.

Ahly have appointed Fathi Mabrouk as their first team coach until the end of the season, replacing Mohamed Youssef.
“Ahly management has accepted the resignation of coach Mohamed Youssef,” read a statement on the club’s official website on Thursday.

The Cairo giants also announced the resignation of football director Sayed Abdel-Hafiz and football supervisor Hady Khashaba.

Youth team manager Fathi Mabrouk will take charge of the first team until the end of the season.

In a disappointing season, Ahly have been eliminated from the CAF Champions League and are third in their league group. They are still in the Confederation Cup.

Youssef, 43, won the 2013 CAF Champions League and the CAF Super Cup after being named coach in July 2013 following the departure of Hossam El-Badry.

Fathi Mabrouk was appointed caretaker coach in 2004 season when he replaced Portugal’s Toni Olivera due to the team’s dip in form during that season.

Mabrouk will be in charge of preparations for the African Confederation Cup group stage and the remaining games of the league season.

Ahly are competing to reach the Egyptian Premier League mini-league. They are currently third in Group A with 29 points, three behind leaders Smouha.
