Egypt drop to 38th in the FIFA world rankings

Egypt fell two positions to 38 in the FIFA global football rankings for August, after placing 36 last month.

The Pharaohs, winners of a record seven African Cup of Nations (CAN) trophies, didn’t play any games this month as all their friendlies were canceled.

Under the helm of new coach Shawky Gharib, who was hired to replace sacked American manager Bob Bradley, Egypt are scheduled to be hosted by the Senegal on 5 September in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Egypt will play in Group G along with Tunisia, Senegal and a yet to be determined side.

The Pharaohs also lost one position among African countries as they placed 5th after they gained 4th last month behind Algeria, Ivory Coast, Nigeria and Ghana.

Egypt made it into the world top 10 after winning three successive African Cup of Nations trophies in 2006, 2008 and 2010.
