Ahlys Spanish coach Juan Carlos Garrido has been suspended for one match after his critical comments against referees following the Petrojet match, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) announced on Wednesday.
The competition committee, headed by Amer Hussein, also fined him LE5,000.
The club is in ongoing meetings to consider their possible withdrawal from the league. They will reportedly demand foreign referees for their upcoming league games.
Petrojet held the Cairo giants to a 1-1 draw on Tuesday to lose further ground in their bid to overtake arch-rivals Zamalek at the top.
“We have lost many points because of refereeing decisions. Referees cost us wins against Ismaily, Assiouty Sport, Masry and against Petrojet tonight,” Garrido, who led Ahly to the Egyptian Super Cup and African Confederation Cup titles after taking over in the summer, said in the post-match news conference.
