Fiorentina confirm they are in talks with Chelsea to amicably resolve the Mohamed Salah saga, possibly with a player exchange.
The Egyptian international arrived in January as part of the Juan Cuadrado move with an option to extend the loan by a year for 1m.
Salah then refused to obey the agreement, claiming he had a private right of veto, but that paperwork was never part of the original contract.
The rapport between Fiorentina and Chelsea is excellent, director general Andrea Rogg told reporters today.
There has been some contact between clubs. Our position is open to a solution, without forgetting that we have more than one reason to feel we are right about this.
We want to emerge from this situation in an amicable manner. Chelsea have many interesting players and this could be the route we go down.
It had been reported this week that Fiorentina would request England Under-21 international midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek on loan instead.
