One day ahead of the Cairo derby against Zamalek, Ahly coach Fathi Mabrouk said that his players were ready to play, adding that there had been tough competition for spots in the starting lineup.
Ahly are set to host Zamalek in the 37th matchday of the season at the Egyptian Army stadium in Alexandria’s Borg El-Arab on Tuesday.
“Players are ready for the game, all of them are in fine shape technically and physically,” Mabrouk told the club’s official website.
“The training sessions witnessed competition between players as all of them are eager to book a place in the starting lineup,” he added.
Ahly, who have been the league champions for the past eight seasons, are second in the Egyptian Premier League table with 74 points, nine behind leaders Zamalek.
“The players promise to beat Zamalek to continue our winning ways in the league games.”
The Red Devils are scheduled to face Tunisian side Etoile du Sahel in the 3rd matchday of the CAF Confederation Cup group stage on Saturday.
“The Zamalek game will be good preparation for the Etoile du Sahel match in the CAF Confederation Cup,” the Ahly coach concluded.
