Afsha is RED | Egyptian League Transfers

Ahly completed the signing of Pyramids FC playmaker Mohamed Magdi, better known as Afsha, on a five-year deal for an undisclosed fee, the newly-crowned Egyptian champions said on Wednesday.

Reports said Ahly would pay EGP 25 million ($1.5 million) for Afsha’s services.

The 23-year-old caught the eyes with some fine displays with Pyramids last season, helping them finish third in the Egyptian Premier League to book a spot at the African Confederation Cup for the first time.

He can operate as a central midfielder or playmaker and is known for his neat distribution of the ball and threaded passes.

Afsha, who has one international cap, will compete with the likes of Saleh Gomaa, Walid Soliman and Nasser Maher for a place in Ahly’s starting line-up.

The Red Devils, who bridged an eight-point gap with Zamalek to win the league for the fourth straight season, are further bolstering their squad to challenge for the African Champions League title, which they last won in 2013.

Afsha is Ahly’s third summer signing after Malian midfielder Aliou Dieng and Ismaily defender Mahmoud Metwalli.
