Zamalek coach Ahmed “Mido” Hossam has been suspended for one match by the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) on Tuesday for misbehaviour after the Whites’ draw against Smouha on Sunday.
The match’s news conference was cancelled after post-match clashes between members of the two teams’ technical staffs.
Smouha boss Memy Abdel-Razek was also hit with a four-match suspension and a LE5,000 fine, while Mido was fined LE20,000 (LE5,000 for his behaviour towards the referee and LE15,000 for missing the match’s conference).
He will be watching his team, the League and Cup champions, from the stands when they play their anticipated league match against Ismaily on 3 February.
Following Sunday’s draw, Zamalek now lies second in the league table with 31 points, just one point behind leaders Ahly, who defeated Ittihad of Alexandria on Saturday. Ahly and Zamalek will clash in the anticipated Cairo derby on 9 February.
