Al Ahly defeated Zamalek 2-0 in the Cairo derby Tuesday in the Egyptian Premier League causing sacking of the title-holders’ newly-appointed coach Ahmed ‘Mido’ Hossam.
Al Ahly confirmed their league lead with 38 points from 16 points, seven points ahead of Zamalek.

“In these matches, the most important thing is winning, not who played the game,” said the veteran striker who missed the match for disciplinary reasons.
“Beating Zamalek this time is important as we extended the gap with them to seven points and also pleasing our fans by beating our arch rivals.
“The win gives players a moral boost in the coming matches,” he concluded.

“We shouldn’t exaggerate in our celebration after beating Zamalek, as the league’s title race is still open,” the goalkeeper told Nile Sport TV channel after the game.
“The big delight will be when we regain the league title,” he added.
