Hany Ramzy on Mission Impossible with Ittihad El-Shorta
Hany Ramzy, who is widely considered as one of Egypts best ever defenders, is still looking for managerial success as he was appointed the new coach of struggling outfit Ittihad El-Shorta on Friday.
The 46-year-old replaces former Ahly boss Fathi Mabrouk who was shown the door by El-Shorta, a police-owned club, after failing to end their winless run in the Egyptian Premier League.
El-Shorta lie third from bottom in the table with 10 points from 17 matches.
Ramzy, who played for Werder Bremen and Kaiserslautern in a long successful playing career in Germany, has had little success since becoming a coach following his retirement in 2005.
He failed to make a notable impact in two spells with Egyptian Premier League side ENPPI and he also had short tenures in charge of Wadi Degla and Belgian club Lierse.
He stepped down as ENPPIs coach last month following a string of poor results.
