Zamalek ready for Algeria’s MO Bejaia | CAF Champions League
League champions Zamalek are also representing Egypt in the African Champions League this season alongside runners-up Ahly, who are the record-holders of the continent’s primary club competition with eight titles under their belt.
Zamalek will host MO Bejaia of Algeria in the same round on Saturday.
Bejaia’s Senegalese striker Mohamed Waliou said on Tuesday that his side’s clash against Zamalek in the Champions League round of 16 will not be easy, as he believes the Cairo giants are stronger than Tunisian side Club Africain.
The Algerian side, who reached the round of 16 at the expense of Club Africain after claiming a 2-1 win on aggregate, will face Zamalek in the first-leg in Cairo on Saturday.
“We have to do our best in this tough clash,” Waliou told Algerian newspaper Elheddaf on Tuesday.
“We will be eying a positive result in Cairo to make their mission in the second-leg easier.”
The second-leg will take place on the 19th of this month in Algeria.
The Egyptian champions, who are struggling in the domestic league this season, are bidding for their first Champions League title since 2002 when they grabbed their sixth trophy.
