Mohamed Elneny Ready & Prepared for the African Cup | GABON 2017
Pharaohs and Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny has said that he and his teammates on the Egyptian national team are working to make the country proud at the 2017 African Cup of Nations in Gabon.
“We are aware that Egyptians need something to bring them joy,” Elneny told Daily Express on Monday.
“We are determined to make them happy at the Nations Cup,” the Arsenal midfielder said.
Elneny has helped Egypt take the lead of Group G of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers and qualify for the 2017 African Cup of Nations finals in Gabon.
The Pharaohs are due to take on Ghana, Mali and Uganda in Group D of the 2017 African Cup of Nations, which will be held in Gabon from 14 January to 5 February.
The midfielder will miss Tuesday’s Arsenal game against Bournemouth as he flies home on Monday to join the national camp for the cup.
Elneny will play for the Pharaohs in a friendly with Tunisia at Cairo International Stadium on 8 January, in preparation for the continental tournament.
