Zamalek 2-2 Morocco’s FUS Rabat | Match Review | Arab Championship
Zamalek’s Portuguese manager Augusto Inacio has blamed the depleted state of the squad for Zamalek’s mediocre Arab Championship performance on Sunday.
The Cairo giants, Zamalek drew 2-2 with Morocco’s FUS Rabat in the Arab Championship Group B opener at the Alexandria Stadium.
“FUS Rabat is a good team but we played them with a shortage in the squad and we will continue to suffer from this issue in the coming games,” Inacio said at a post-match press conference.
“We only have two wingers in our squad, Shikabala and Ahmed Refaat, and with the latter’s injury we played with no winger,” said the coach.
“I am not a magician capable of doing more than we did during the FUS Rabat game. All the players gave their best and performed well, but we can’t achieve victory while we are lacking this number of players in the squad.
“I can’t do more than what I did with the team,” Inacio said.

Zamalek’s management have loaned several talented players to other teams, while refusing to extend the loan deal for Nigerian forward Stanley.
“I am not responsible for selling Mostafa Fathi and Stanley. I am not the person who sells the players,” said Inacio.
“Two players left the team without replacements for them being signed. You want to blame the coach for the poor results, but I can’t change the players’ positions,” Inacio concluded.
