Egypt to take on UAE in friendly match November 9th 2017
The Egyptian national team will play the UAE on 9 November in a friendly game, three days ahead of the last African qualifier to the 2018 World Cup, in which Egypt will face Ghana.
“The team will play in the UAE before heading directly to Komasi for the game,” the Pharaohs executive manager Ehab Lehita stated via the Egyptian Football Association’s (EFA) official Facebook page on Monday.
The EFA representatives were approached by their UAE counterparts earlier to schedule a friendly match.
Egypt have already qualified for this year’s World Cup in Russia, ending a 28-year of drought by defeating Congo 2-1 at home last week to lead group E with four points more than second placed Uganda.
Egypt’s away game against Ghana cannot change the team’s qualification, but Egypt’s Argentinean coach could use the opportunity to test new tactics and players in preparation for the prestigious tournament, which takes place in June.
The World Cup draw will be held in December. Egypt stands in pot 3 after maintaining 30th place in the FIFA global rankings announced Monday.
