Syria 0-0 Palestine | AFC Asian Cup 2019
Day two of the AFC Asian Cup was an exciting one. It started off with title-holders Australia being shocked by Jordan before India thrashed Thailand to earn their first win in the Asian Cup in over 50 years. However, the day ended on an anti-climactic note with Syria and Palestine playing out a goalless draw.
Syria and Palestine rounded off the day with a 0-0 draw in Sharjah which pushed Australia to the bottom of Group B after the first round of games.
Floriana’s Mohammed Saleh was deployed from the start in Palestine’s starting XI as a central defender.
Unfortunately, the defender was given the marching orders in the final 22 minutes of the game, leaving his country with a man down.
Nonetheless, Palestine managed to keep Syria’s threats at bay to seal a goalless stalemate.
