Egypt’s delegation in the African Games held in Rabat, Morocco, maintained the top spot with 116 medals, including 37 gold, 50 silver and 29 bronze medals.
South Africa came second with 56 medals, including 25 gold, 17 silvers and 14 bronzes. Morocco came third with 52 medals (13 gold, 15 silver and 24 bronze), and Algeria finished fourth with 52 medals, including 13 gold, 14 silver and 25 bronze.
The Egyptian delegation participated in the opening ceremony of the African Games held in the Moroccan city of Rabat until 31 August.
The opening ceremony was held at the Prince MoulayAbdellah stadium in Rabat amid the presence of sports ministers and heads of Olympic committees of the 54 participating African countries.

Hisham Hatab, President of the Egyptian Olympic Committee and Eng. Sherif El-Erian,
Secretary General of the Olympic Committee, were present at the opening ceremony.
Eng. Basil Abdullah, a member of the Board of Directors of the Olympic Committee headed of the Egyptian delegation in the opening ceremony, Yahya Dabes, a member of the Board of Directors of the Olympic Committee and Vice-President of the delegation, and Dr. Abdulaziz Ghoneim, a member of the Board of Directors of the Olympic Committee.
The Egyptian flag was raised at the opening ceremony by Mostafa El Gamal and Dina Musharraf.
