Hossam El-Badry named as Al Ahly’s New Coach | VIDEO

Hossam El-Badry, the current Egypt Olympic team coach and former Ahly head coach, to succeed sacked Garrido.

Egyptian club Ahly have reached an agreement with their former coach Hossam El-Badry to lead the team for one season and a half, after the dismissal of Spanish Juan Carlos Garrido.

“El-Badry reached an agreement with Ahly Chairman Mahmoud Taher to lead the club until the end of the next season,” Ahram Sports reported Monday, with the official announcement from the club expected within hours.

Hossam El Badry comments on his new job:

The former Ahly defender served for four years as an assistant coach to the club’s most successful manager Manuel Jose, winning a series of trophies before he took charge of the team in 2009-2010 and again in 2012.

During his tenure as head coach, he helped the team clinch the Egyptian Premier League, Super Cup and the CAF Champions League.

The 55-year-old tactician is currently coaching the Egyptian national Olympic team, and is expected to meet the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) in order to reach an agreement on his release.

It’s expected that El-Badry will also assign Osama Orabi, his assistant at the Olympic Pharaohs team, as his top assistant.

The team’s current football director Wael Gomaa and football general manager Alaa Abdel-Sadek are expected to remain in their posts.

Garrido was sacked after the record holders of eight CAF Champions League trophies lost on Saturday to Moghreb Tetouan of Morocco in the CAF’s round of 16.
