EFA: “National Team & League games to be played Behind Closed Doors”

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) decided on Tuesday to play all the matches, including the Egyptian League and the Egyptian national team encounters, behind closed doors due to coronavirus concerns.

“In order to ensure the safety for all the Egyptian football fans in the ongoing special circumstances, which require taking all the precautionary measures to combat the coronavirus outbreak. The EFA decided to hold all the upcoming matches behind the closed doors until further notice,” the EFA said in a statement.

The Pharaohs will be facing Togo on 26, and 29 March in the third and fourth rounds of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Egyptian giants Al Ahly and Zamalek are set to play against Wydad and Raja in May in the CAF Champions League semi-finals.

It is worth mentioning that the virus hit many countries across the world as a number of states suspended all sports events.

Italy’sgovernment decided on Monday to suspend all sports events in Italy, including all matches in Serie A, until April 3.

In a press conference, the country’s prime minister Giuseppe Conte announced the suspension of all sports events in the European state, but the decision will not be implemented on the Italian clubs or national teams participating in international competitions.
