Chelsea wants nine substitutes per game!

With 92 matches remaining in the premier league after football’s suspension due to COVID-19, players are likely to be unfit when the league returns, and this has made Chelsea request for more substitutes to be allowed in matches.

The Blues have submitted a formal proposal to the Premier League, that would ask for the maximum number of substitutes to be increased from seven to nine.

This is due to the fear of injuries as the 92 matches will have to be squeezed and played in six weeks.

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea’s proposal will be discussed at the next shareholders meeting on Thursday, with a vote on the matter due a week later.

Players like N’golo Kante and Tammy Abraham have already expressed their fears over resuming the season with the former even missing a few training sessions due to safety fears.

In the Premier League, Chelsea still has the likes of Leicester City, Manchester City, and Liverpool to play in their remaining fixtures, and unfitness is an issue they are looking to avoid.

Frank Lampard’s men also have a Champions League outing with Bayern Munich and an FA Cup Quarter-final clash with Leicester City.

The league is set to resume on June 17.
