Egypt declared a month-long state of emergency beginning at 4 p.m. local time (10 a.m. ET), according to state television.
The violence began with Egyptian security forces storming the two massive makeshift camps filled with supporters of ousted President Mohamed Morsy, bulldozing tents and escorting away hundred violent protesters.
