Egyptian captain and player of the match Ahmed El Ahmar said that Egypt’s 28:23 win against the Russian Handball Federation was of paramount importance in the bid to reach the latter rounds of Egypt 2021.

“It was important to get this win, especially after losing against Sweden,” said El Ahmar.

“Every point is important, we hope to reach the quarter-final stage and not need to rely on other results. We managed to get past the first hurdle, we still have to matches which are like cup finals.

“We have to take things game by game. This is what we say to all players in the meetings. We don’t want to have any regrets or feel like we didn’t do enough to win.
