Egypt U23 Getting ready for Tokyo Olympics

The young Pharaohs team started a closed camp in Egypt before heading to South Africa to face the latter’s Olympic team in two friendlies on 10 and 13 June, respectively

Egypt U23 national football team will arrive in South Africa on Tuesday to play two friendly matches within the Pharaohs’ preparations for the upcoming 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

The young Pharaohs team started a closed camp in Egypt before heading to South Africa to face the latter’s Olympic team in two friendlies on 10 and 13 June, respectively.

“All the players are ready for the Tokyo Olympic Games, as we will arrive in South Africa on Tuesday to play two friendly games,” Egypt’s Olympic team’s Spokesman Zaghloul Siam told a television program.

The Olympic team’s spokesman revealed that the management held talks with Turkish side Galatasaray to confirm the availability of striker Mostafa Mohamed ahead of Tokyo Games.

“Mostafa Mohamed confirmed his eagerness to book a regular place in Egypt’s U23 national team squad,” Siam added.

Egypt’s coach Shawky Gharib announced that he will unveil his final squad for the upcoming 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo on 30 June, as the team is set fly to Tokyo on 16 July to join the health bubble system before starting the tournament.

The national team booked their place at the Olympic Games after winning the U-23 Nations Cup on home soil in November of last year.

Egypt were drawn in a tough group at the Olympic Games, along with heavyweights Spain, Argentina, and Australia.
