In what should be an electric night at Wembley, England will welcome an inspired Denmark to the capital with a spot in the final of this summer’s European Championships up for grabs.

England

Starting with the hosts, although England might have failed to lay down much of a marker in their three Group D contests last month, The Three Lions have found their feet at a crucial time.

Still boosted by that famous 2-0 win against arch-rivals Germany on home soil, Gareth Southgate’s side eventually breezed their way past Ukraine at the Stadio Olimpico last weekend. Making the trip to Rome and claiming a thumping 4-0 win, it is no surprise that England are tipped as a leading pick to lift their first international title since 1966.

With the mood in their camp at a red-hot high, Southgate will undoubtedly be excited by his side’s continued displays at back. Along with Harry Kane finding his feet and bagging three goals in back-to-back appearances, Wednesday’s hosts are yet to concede a single goal this summer and they have now gone over 650 minutes without picking the ball out of their own net.

After missing England’s 4-0 win out in Rome last weekend, Arsenal starlet Bukayo Saka has recovered from a minor injury issue and has been given the green light to be involved on Wednesday night.

With the trio of Harry Maguire, Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips all avoiding a booking against Ukraine, all of their yellow cards have been written off.

Denmark

As for the visitors, while Denmark might have opened this summer’s delayed European Championships with those distressing scenes surrounding Christian Eriksen, The Reds have bounced back in what has been a remarkable fashion.

Suffering that controversial 1-0 loss against Finland in their Group B opener last month and also throwing away the lead in a 2-1 defeat against Belgium, The Danes needed a minor miracle to even scrape their way to the knockout stage. Eventually landing an action-packed 4-1 romp against Russia and sneaking their way out of Group B with just three points, they now find themselves in the midst of a real fairytale story.

Coming past the Czech Republic thanks to a 2-1 victory last weekend in their round of 16 showdown, Denmark should also be boosted by their recent record against Wednesday’s opponents. Landing a 1-0 victory when they made the trip to Wembley in the Nations League last year, Kasper Hjulmand’s side have collected four points from their last two meetings against England.

Yussuf Poulsen looks set to once again settle for a spot on the bench as Kasper Dolberg is expected to lead Denmark’s charge at Wembley.

Overcoming a minor knock, skipper and defensive talisman Simon Kjaer will start on Wednesday night.
