Al Ahly held by Ismaily as Mohamed Sherif is injured

Mohamed Sherif was on target as Al Ahly drew in the Egyptian Premier League 1-1 with Ismaily SC.

With five matches remaining Ahly are now second in the league table with 65 points, two points behind leaders Zamalek who have 67 points.

Mohamed Sherif opened the scoring in the 22 nd minute while Ismaily Tunisian winger Fakhereedine Ben Youssef netted the equaliser, five minutes after the hour-mark.

Both sides started the game in style as they shared possession in the first 20 minutes of the game.

Mohamed Sherif gave his side the lead in the 22 nd minute, netting his 19 th league goal this season so far.

Ali Maaloul cleared Mohamed Magdi with a nice long pass and the classy playmaker gifted Sheif a wonderful cross to score easily in an empty net.

The remaining 25 minutes were a dull affair with Ismaily tried to level the score but without a real threat.

Eight minutes after the break Ahly striker Mohamed Sherif was replaced after suffering a muscle injury, making ways for striker Walter Bwalya.

The second half saw Ahly control the game as they made many attempts to add the second and to kill the but they failed against a brilliant Ismaily keeper.

In the 65 th minute Tunisian winger Fakhereedine Ben Youssef met Ahmed Madbouli’s nice cross with a wonderful glancing header that went into the bottom of the net.

After equaliser Ahly pulled on the attack with substitute winger Taher Mohamed Taher squandered three clear chances, while Salah Mohsen’s effort went wide with the goal at his mercy.

Ismaily will host Zamalek on Saturday while Zamalek will face Enppi later in the day.
