After losing 2-1 to Zamalek in the Cairo derby on Thursday, Ahly coach Hossam El-Badry said that the technical staff decided to forget the loss to rivals Zamalek and has since started preparations for the coming game against Assiouty Sports in the Egypt Cup quarterfinals.

“We will play an important game against Assiouty Sports on Monday and we intend to focus on it,” El-Badry was quoted as saying on the club’s official website.

“Assiouty displayed their tactics well in the Egyptian Premier League, and Ahly always respect our opponents and approach the games without paying attention to the opponent’s history,” the Ahly coach said.

“We are working now to win the Egypt Cup trophy this season,” he added.

Ahly lost to Zamalek for the first time in 11 years in Egypt’s domestic league during the Cairo derby on Thursday.

Ahly have already won the domestic league, while Zamalek advanced to third place with 61 points.
