Egypt will face Belgium in a friendly game Tonight in Kuwait as part of the Belgium team’s preparations for this month’s World Cup.
On Friday, Pharaohs coach Rui Vitoria announced the final 24-man list that saw the call-up of eight foreign-based players.
Egypt Team News:
Arsenal’s Mohamed Elneny hasn’t played for Egypt since suffering an injury back in March, but he is in line to start this afternoon’s match.
Forward Elmar Marmoush, who plays his club football at Wolfsburg, has withdrawn from the squad after picking up an injury.
Mohamed Salah is expected to start against the Red Devils this afternoon – it would take a brave man to exclude the talismanic forward from an Egyptian team.
“The Belgium friendly will be very difficult since we will be playing against the world’s number two team,” Vitoria said.
“We could play a friendly game against an easier team, but we were looking for a strong challenge.”
Flashback Egypt 4-0 Belgium:
Zamalek’s Ahmed Zizo or Turkish-based winger Mahmoud Trezeguet is likely to replace Marmoush on the left flank. Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah is set to start on the right, with Nantes’ Mostafa Mohamed expected to be deployed as a lone striker.
Roberto Martinez could choose to rest key players ahead of the tournament in Qatar and hand minutes to those who are likely to feature from the bench once the tournament begins.
Leicester City defender Wesley Faes could feature in defence while Everton’s Amadou Onana could find minutes in midfield.
Eden Hazard’s minutes will likely be limited ahead of the tournament as he has struggled with injury in recent months.
Egypt’s Starting lineup:
Egypt: Mohamed El-Shenawi; Ahmed Hegazy, Akram Tawfik, Ali Gabr, Mohamed Hamdi; Mahmoud Hamada, Mohamed Elneny, Tarek Hamed; Mahmoud Trezeguet Hassan, Mohamed Salah, Mostafa Mohamed
