Mohamed Abdel-Shafi joins Ahly Jeddah for 1.2M USD

Zamalek’ left-back Mohamed Abdel-Shafi will join Saudi giants Ahli Jeddah on a season-long loan deal.

In spite coach Hossam Hassan’s refusal to let go of his in-form defender, the board agreed on the move during its emergency meeting on Monday.

“We had to consider both, the club and the player’s interests. We have several replacements for Abdel-Shafi as Saleh Moussa and Ahmed Samir can play in his position,” Zamalek President

Mortada Mansour told reporters on Monday.

Ahli Jeddah have reportedly tabled a $1.2 million bid to get the 29-year old player immediately until the end of the season.

The Cairo giants couldn’t turn down such a lucrative deal, especially as they went on a signing spree this summer that brought 17 new players to the club.
