Al Ahly confidently advances to the Egyptian Super Cup final, aiming to clinch their 14th Super Cup title and secure a third consecutive victory against Modern Future FC .
The venue for the upcoming match is in Abu Dhabi.
This rendition of the Super Cup involves four teams instead of the typical two, and Ahly aspires to be the first champions in this revamped format.
In the semifinals, Ahly tenaciously secured a 1-0 triumph against Ceramica Cleopatra, underscoring their resolve to advance to the final.
Simultaneously, Modern Future FC secured their spot with an exhilarating penalty shootout victory over Pyramids FC, concluding with a remarkable score of 14-13.
Koller recognized that his team has encountered difficulties due to a hectic schedule, leading to injuries for key players like goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawi and defender Yasser Ibrahim, both of whom couldn’t complete the semifinal match.
“Despite the challenges, Ahly has the experience to handle the pressure of consecutive matches,” Marcel Koller stated during the pre-match news conference on Wednesday.
El-Shennawi, who confirmed his fitness to play, stressed that the decision on his participation ultimately rests with the coach.
Both El-Shennawi and Koller acknowledged that the upcoming match against Modern Future FC won’t be easy, emphasizing the need for a cautious approach.
Buoyed by their victory over Pyramids FC, Modern Future FC is eager to pull off another surprise against Ahly.
The team’s coach, Ricardo Formosinho, expressed his ambition and optimism, asserting their readiness for the tough clash.
While acknowledging Ahly’s strength as a very good team, Formosinho remains confident in his side’s capabilities and emphasizes the importance of being realistic against their formidable opponents.
In their previous match, Modern Future FC adopted a defensive approach and relied on counterattacks. Striker Ahmed Atef and Moroccan winger Abdelkabir El Ouadi had clear chances but failed to convert them before the match went to a penalty shootout, ultimately propelling Modern Future FC to the final.
