Al Ahly SC

Al Ahly heads into the showdown as the reigning CAF Champions League champions, while Zamalek steps up as the CAF Confederation Cup titleholders. It’s a battle of champions in the African Super Cup!

Al Ahly’s head coach, Marcel Koller, has assembled his full arsenal, including the latest summer signings, as the Cairo giants jetted off to Saudi Arabia on Wednesday. With just 48 hours to go before the CAF Super Cup showdown, Koller is leaving no stone unturned in his pursuit of another major trophy.

Coach Marcel Koller has named a 23-man squad for the highly anticipated CAF Super Cup clash, featuring summer signings Youssef Ayman, Moroccan duo Yahya Attia Allah and Achraf Dari, and Omar El-Saaiy.

Fullback Yahya Attia Allah made an appearance in Ahly’s recent Champions League matches against Kenyan side Gor Mahia last week, while the other three new signings have yet to make their debut.

Meanwhile, the team’s seasoned stars, including veteran goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shenawy, in-form defender Rami Rabia, and midfielders Marwan Attia, Emam Ashour, Hussein El-Shahat, and Percy Tau, have all secured their spots in the squad.

Al Ahly, with a record eight CAF Super Cup titles, are aiming for their ninth, while rivals Zamalek are chasing their fifth trophy.

ZAMALEK SC

Zamalek will step into the CAF Super Cup as the reigning CAF Confederation Cup champions.

Mahmoud “El-Wensh,” 29, who underwent surgery for a torn ACL in February—his third such injury in three years—won’t likely start. However, the Egyptian national defender will be on the bench, offering support as he continues his rehabilitation.

Portuguese coach José Gomes has also called up a fresh quartet of signings: defender Mohamed Hamdi, Moroccan left-back Mahmoud Bentayg, Polish winger Konrad Michalak, and Palestinian striker Omar Faraj.

Left-back Ahmed Fattouh will, however, miss the match.
