Mohamed Salah has etched his name into Premier League history once again, becoming only the fifth player to win the prestigious Player of the Season award more than once.
The Egyptian star first claimed the accolade during his remarkable debut season with Liverpool in 2017–18. Now, with this second triumph, he joins an exclusive group of two-time winners that includes Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo, Nemanja Vidić, and Kevin De Bruyne.
The 32-year-old forward was chosen from an eight-man shortlist, with the final decision based on a combination of public voting and expert panel deliberations.
Among the other contenders were his Liverpool teammates Virgil van Dijk and Ryan Gravenberch, alongside Morgan Gibbs-White, Alexander Isak, Bryan Mbeumo, Declan Rice, and Chris Wood.
Salah’s Historic Season Continues with Record-Breaking Honors
Mohamed Salah’s remarkable season added another accolade just two days after being named the 2025 Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year, tying the all-time record with three wins.
These back-to-back honors crown a historic campaign in which the Egyptian forward has delivered one of the most dominant individual performances in Premier League history.
With one match left to play, Salah has amassed 28 goals and 18 assists in 37 appearances—leading the league in both categories. His contributions were pivotal in securing Liverpool’s title with four games to spare.

Should he finish the season atop both the scoring and assist charts, Salah would become the first player ever to win the Golden Boot, Golden Playmaker, and Player of the Season in the same campaign.
He has already set a new benchmark by becoming the first player to register more than 46 goal involvements in a 38-game Premier League season—just one short of the all-time record of 47, set by Alan Shearer and Andrew Cole in 42-match seasons.
Salah is also on the verge of another milestone, needing just two more assists to equal the single-season record of 20, jointly held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
In another landmark achievement, he surpassed Sergio Agüero to become the Premier League’s highest-scoring overseas player, with 185 goals to his name. He now ranks fifth on the all-time scorers list, trailing only Alan Shearer (260), Harry Kane (213), Wayne Rooney (208), and Andrew Cole (187).
With two years remaining on his Liverpool contract, Salah looks set to continue his record-breaking run—and further cement his legacy as one of the Premier League’s greatest players.
