Egypt slip to 57th in FIFA rankings for May 2012 after not playing a competitive match for 9 months, remain in top 10 African teams.
Egypt slipped two places in the monthly FIFA ranking announced on 9 May 2012, to 57 from 55 last month.
The Pharaohs couldn’t jump again as they did last month when they climbed nine places, although they remained in the top five Arab and among the top ten African teams.
They lost one position among Arab countries, falling to fourth behind Algeria, Libya and Tunisia, while they also lost a place in the African countries list to ninth.
Spain is still leading the global ranking ahead of Germany, Uruguay, Netherlands and Portugal who remained in the top five.
The winners of seven African Cup of Nations (CAN) titles, who were in the top ten last year, kept sliding in the global ranking after failing to qualify for the 2012 edition.
Under current American coach Bob Bradley, the team has not played an official competitive match in more than nine months. Instead, they have been playing friendly games to prepare for the qualifiers of the 2013 African Cup of Nations and the 2014 World Cup.
