ENPPI out of Confederation cup | Bamako 3-0 ENNPI
ENPPI, Egypt’s sole representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup, were knocked out of the competition on Sunday after slumping to an embarrassing 3-0 loss at Malian side CO Bamako.
The Egypt Cup winners exited Africa’s secondary competition, following a 4-3 aggregate defeat, having defeated Bamako 3-1 in the first leg in Cairo three weeks ago.
ENPPI could have forced the game into a penalty shootout, but were let down by midfielder Amr El-Halawani, who wasted a penalty in the second half.
The Confederation Cup has eluded Egyptian teams since its inauguration in 2004. The Egyptians have also failed to win the older version, the CAF Cup.
