Mohamed Abou-Treika has been named in Egypt’s squad for the friendlies against Congo and Tunisia despite his club ban.
The midfield icon was among seven other Ahly players to make the Egypt squad, which fly to Dubai on October 9.
Abou-Treika’s inclusion in the Pharaohs squad was under doubt as he is under a two-month ban for skipping this month’s Super Cup game with ENPPI.
He will be joined by club mates Hossam Ghaly, Sherif Ekrami, Hossam Ashour, Ahmed Fathi, Walid Soliman and Geddo, while there was no place for long-serving defender Wael Gomaa.
Bob Bradley’s roster comprised nine foreign-based Egyptians, including the likes of Shikabala and Amr Zaki.
Zamalek youngster Mohamed Ibrahim retained his place in the squad after an impressive performance against Ahly as full-back Mohamed Abdul-Shafi returned.
