Zamalek manager Jesualdo Ferreira Quits | VIDEO
Jesualdo Ferreira who is currently on holiday in his homelandhas notified the board that he will not resume his role as first-team coach, citing several reasons including what he said was the club’s failure to pay him his late dues as well as interference in his work by outspoken chairman Mortada Mansour.
In a message to Zamalek fans that he posted on his Facebook profile in Arabic, English and Portuguese, Ferreira said he could no longer bear Mansour’s constant criticism of him.
“As you know for many months the President is fighting against our staff and trying to interfere in our work. Also, he didnt pay us for the last 3 months and also didnt pay the bonus for that we achieved,”
“First of all I want to thank all the fans that always support me, fight for us and help us going trough all the difficulties. Second I want to thank Zamalek club staff that work with us for all the work and the moments we share”
“I sent him a letter and we gave them one week to pay us and they didnt even reply. I didnt accept many offers from other clubs in the last months and we stayed till now because we love Zamalek and we want to take more with titles with the club.”
“And finally my standing ovation go to the Players, who I consider them my family and I consider myself as their father and I tell them that all the Success we made was because of them.” he added.
Local media said Ferreira had offered the board to relinquish his late dues in return of the club giving up a penalty clause worth $240,000.
The 69-year-old manager took charge of the White Knights in February following a similarly stunning move from compatriot Jaime Pacheco, who opted to leave the club in the same acrimonious fashion on New Years day.
Ferreira, who lead Zamalek to the domestic double last season, was due to return from Portugal on Sunday.
