El-Badry announces Al Ahly squad for Bidvest Wits game
Hossam El-Badry has called up 22 players for the anticipated second-leg of the Champions League round of 32 against South Africa’s Bidvest Wits away on Friday.
El-Badry will be relying on almost all the club’s continentally registered players, with the exceptions of Hossam Ghaly, Marwan Mohsen Junior Ajayi and youngster Karim “Nedved” Walid, who are all suffering from injuries.
“The match will be easier than the home game because the opponents are expected to attack and leave open spaces but we must stay focused,” the 56-year-old tactician told a local television programme on Tuesday.
Ahly won 1-0 in Saturday’s home game, thanks to the second-half header from Egypt centre-back Ahmed Hegazy in the 56th minute.
