Egypt coach Hassan Shehata has told Fabio Capello that John Terry would have been out on his ear if he had been his manager.
Shehata, who brings his team to Wembley for a friendly on Wednesday, has a policy of zero tolerance towards badly-behaved stars.
We have different traditions and rarely face these kinds of problems, said Shehata. But if it did happen within the team, it would be a serious and big problem and unacceptable, not only from me, but from the society as well.
Both players [Terry and Ashley Cole] would be excluded and kicked out of the team – no matter who they are and how much the team needs them.
Capello took the England captaincy from Terry after his affair with Wayne Bridges ex-girlfriend was revealed – but the Chelsea skipper kept his place in the team.
And, although Cole is injured, Shehata would have also dropped the left-back following his alleged marital infidelities. The Egypt coach added: This could never happen in the Egyptian team. We endorse strong bonds and respectful relationships.
However, Shehata – whose team won a third consecutive African Nations Cup in January – is a great admirer of English football, and feels Capellos side can triumph in South Africa.
The English team is a great team, one of the top five in the world, he said. They have some of the most skilful players in the world.
And for me, Mr Capello is one of the best coaches in the world.
England can win the World Cup – and I think its time that they did.
