Hassan Shehata resigns as Petrojet manager
Former Egypt boss Hassan Shehata has resigned as Petrojet manager in the wake of his side’s 1-0 defeat at the hands of relegation-threatened Nasr Taadeen in the Egyptian league on Thursday.
The decorated Shehata, who led Egypt to an unprecedented hat-trick of Nations Cup titles in 2006, 2008 and 2010, had been in charge of the petroleum side since mid-January.
Shehata’s results, however, were not deemed quite up to par having registered only three victories in 10 games in all competitions, which included a 3-0 Egypt Cup defeat by Egyptian league contenders Maqassa in February.
Petrojet are currently seventh of the Egyptian league standings on 37 points, five adrift of fifth-placed Smouha.
