John Antwi’s late goal sends Maqassa to CAF Champions League
Egyptian Premier League dark horses Maqassa qualified for the African Champions League for the first time after they came from behind to earn a 2-1 victory over El-Entag El-Harby on Friday.
Maqassa fell behind to a goal from Ethiopian striker Oumed Oukri after 19 minutes but their foreign contingent made the difference with two late goals to give them a precious win.
Madagascars Paulin Voavy, who caught the eyes with a series of superb displays this term, drew Maqassa level on 71 minutes after firing home from a low cross before Ghanaian on-loan striker John Antwi netted the winner eight minutes from time.
He popped up at the far post to slot home with a simple tap-in as Maqassa ensured a second-place finish for the first time ever.
Maqassa enjoy a seven-point lead over third-placed Zamalek with three matches remaining.

Although there are still nine more points up for grabs, Zamalek will be deducted three points at the end of the campaign as a punishment for withdrawing from a league game against Maqassa in April.
