Egypt v Liberia November 7th, 2019 | Match Preview

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) announced late Wednesday that the Pharaohs will face Liberia in a friendly 7 November at Borg El-Arab Stadium as a part of the team’s preparations for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Egypt will start the qualifiers facing Kenya and Comoros on 14 and 18 November respectively.

National team director Mohamed Barakat revealed that EFA reached an agreement with the Liberian Football Association to play a friendly as it was the only team available. Most African teams are busy preparing themselves for the AFCON qualifiers.

Pharaohs new coach Hossam El-Badry earlier requested of EFA to play a friendly in order to better prepare, especially for domestic players chosen in his squad for the qualifiers.

El-Badry led the team in a single game where Egypt defeated Botswana 1-0 in a friendly 14 October.

Egypt’s national team started Monday an open training camp in preparation for the AFCON qualifiers with Zamalek players plus Smouha’s Hossam Hassan at Haras El-Hodoud Stadium.

The players trained for three days before returning to their clubs.

Domestic players will begin a closed camp 5 November, to be joined by their fellow footballers based abroad on 10 November.

Egypt has faced Liberia four times in the World Cup qualifiers, with two victories for each side.
