Nigeria’s Enugu Rangers 1-3 Pyramids FC | Match Highlights
Egypt’s Pyramids kicked off their African Confederation Cup group-stage campaign in superb fashion, scoring two late goals to come from behind and earn a 3-1 away win over Nigeria’s Enugu Rangers on Sunday.
Ibrahim Olawoyin fired the hosts in front in the 29th minute after a neat exchange with a teammate, firing a low shot into the bottom corner.
However, Rangers paid dearly for the dismissal of Temitope Olusesi, who was given a second booking on the stroke of halftime, as Pyramids created numerous goal-scoring chances after the restart.
Mohamed Farouk converted a penalty awarded for a handball in the 54th minute to restore parity and a late rally saw Pyramids claim all three points.
Tunisian winger Amor Layouni drove a fierce angled drive into the bottom corner on 83 minutes after being fed by playmaker Islam Eissa, who turned from provider to scorer to complete the rout with three minutes remaining.
Eissa sent the keeper the wrong way from the spot after Eric Traore was tripped by the keeper.
Pyramids continued their impressive run away from home, chalking up a fourth straight win on the road.
Mauritania’s FC Nouadhibou face Egypt’s Masry in the other Group A match later in the day.
