Harry Kane still on Real Madrid’s radar
Laliga giants Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on Tottenham Hotspurs striker Harry Kane after he claimed that he was open to leaving North London.
Reports from Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo indicates that Madrid is looking to land a world-class striker with the team having dwindled since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.
There are claims too that they are in for Kane as they see him as someone who would carry the mantle that will supposedly be left by Karim Benzema who is 32 years old.
Kane caused shockwaves last month when in an interview with Jamie Redknapp he said he was angling at winning trophies and was open to moving away from the club.
“If I don’t feel we’re progressing as a team or moving in the right direction, I’m not someone who would stay just for the sake of it. I’m an ambitious player,” Kane said then.
Spurs have struggled to win trophies and are set to go empty-handed this season after crashing out of the Champions League to RB Leipzig and suffering shock shoot-out defeats to Norwich and Colchester United in the FA Cup and EFL Cup. They trail Liverpool by a staggering 41 points in the English Premier League.
Real Madrid, however, is aware of the battle they will be involved in to get the England captain with Spurs chairman FDaniel Levy expected to play tough games in letting him leave.
