Pep Guardiola’s outgoing Premier League champions will give a guard of honor to the newly-crowned champions of England at the Etihad Stadium tonight.

Jürgen Klopp’s Reds have won the Premier League in record time and with seven games to spare, they’ll want to flex their muscles at the home of the team they have just dethroned. There’s every possibility that they’ll show no mercy and attempt to rub salt into the wounds of a team missing key players.

Salah Wants to stay

Having helped his team win the first English top-flight title in 30 years on top of last year’s Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup triumphs, Mohamed Salah told BeIN Sports he hopes to stay at Liverpool for a very long time.

The Egyptian’s path to the top hasn’t been easy. Deemed surplus to requirements at Chelsea, he had to fight his way to the top through the Italian Serie A, where he played for Fiorentina and AS Roma before eventually arriving to Anfield in 2017. He reportedly wasn’t even the first-choice target for manager Jurgen Klopp, who turned to him only after Julian Brandt, now at Borussia Dortmund, chose to stick with Bayer Leverkusen at the time.

But neither Klopp nor Salah looked back from that point on. The forward broke the Premier League record with 32 goals in his first season with the Reds, and his impact has never wavered. It was inevitable that his high-quality performances prompt links with one of the La Liga giants, and indeed, media outlets in Spain spoke about interest from Real Madrid more than once.

But the 28-year-old insists he is happy at Liverpool and has no plans to leave any time soon.
