Al Ahly have put an end to Wadi Degla’s six-match unbeaten run after besting them 2-0 in a hard-fought match in game-week 24 of the Egyptian Premier League.
The opening 10 minutes can only be described as a highly intense back and forth tug of war between both sides on who gets to score the opener.
Marwan Mohsen was eventually able to put Al Ahly ahead before the first half ended, after receiving Geraldo’s cross with a header which he placed in the opposite post giving no chance for the goalkeeper.

Wadi Degla had the most possession at the start of the second period and it eventually paid off as they put the scores back level in the 63rd minute after a meticulously executed free-kick.

This allowed Ahmed Hassan to put the ball into the back of the net. However, after consulting the Video Assistant Referee (VAR), match official, Mahmoud Greisha, decided to disallow the goal as one of the Wadi Degla players was found offside.
Hamdi Fathy then blasted in Al Ahly’s second after firing a shot into the right hand corner of the goalkeeper, giving his team a 2-0 victory.
