Zamalek’s interim president “El-Bakri” dies from COVID-19

Zamalek’s Interim President, Ahmed El-Bakri, passed away on Thursday after testing positive for COVID-19.

El-Bakri was assigned by the sports ministry in late November as the head of the normalization committee in charge of directing Zamalek after the suspension of Mortada Mansour’s council for investigations into possible financial irregularities.

He was appointed to a previous interim council that managed the club in 2008 as well by Hassan Saqr, head of the National Sports Council at the time.

El-Bakri had a long and successful career in the Egyptian judiciary, working in the public prosecution initially before working his way up to head of the court of appeal in Cairo and then head of the criminal court in Giza.
