Ahly claimed their sixth consecutive win in the Egyptian league on Monday when they defeated Ittihad of Alexandria in a delayed game at El-Salam Stadium in Cairo as the Alexandria-based side wasted two penalties.
Percy Tau gave the hosts an early lead in the 12th minute, while defender Yasser Ibrahim doubled the lead 20 minutes later.
Akram Tawfik added the third in injury time after a good job from playmaker Mohamed ‘Afsha’ Magdi.
Ahly are now leading the league table with maximum 18 points, four points ahead of second-placed Zamalek.
On the other hand, Ittihad of Alexandria fell to the sixth place with nine points from six games.

Defender Yasser Ibrahim rose above his marker to meet a nice cross from Ali Maaloul to add the second with a header in the 32 nd minute.
On the stroke of the halftime, the visitors had the chance to narrow the gap when Khaled El-Ghandour gained a penalty. Ahly keeper Mohamed El-Shennawi, however, denied Mahmoud Alaa’s kick from the spot.
One minute after the break, Ittihad of Alexandria winger Ahmed Adel missed another penalty as his shot went wide.
The rest of the second half saw a convincing performance from the visitors who controlled the game on many occasions but failed to present a real threat.
The only threat came in the 68th minute when Mohamed El-Shennawi blocked a nice header from substitute striker Agostinho Mabululu.
Ten minutes later, Ahly midfielder Karim Fouad failed to score in an empty net.
In the dying minutes, substitute midfielder Mohamed ‘Afsha’ Magdi eased past Ittihad of Alexandria keeper El-Mahdi Soliman, before clearing Akram Tawfik who scored easily in an empty net.
