Rwanda’s APR FC 1-1 Pyramids FC | Highlights – CAF Champions League

Pyramids FC, the Egyptian Premier League runners-up, battled to a gritty 1-1 draw against Rwanda’s APR FC in the first leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary round on Saturday.

The intense clash saw both teams exchange blows in a high-stakes affair, setting the stage for a crucial second leg.

In the 50th minute, Moroccan right-back Mohamed Chibi accidentally turned the ball into his own net, handing APR FC a brief lead.

But Congolese striker Fiston Mayele stepped up in the 83rd minute, heading in a superb equalizer to rescue the Egyptian side. Mayele’s goal came from a well-placed corner by newly signed winger Abdelrahman Magdi, who made an instant impact in his debut appearance for the team.

Pyramids FC, an emerging powerhouse in Egyptian football, are on a mission to erase the pain of previous continental setbacks.

Their journey for redemption comes after a crushing defeat in the 2019 CAF Confederation Cup final against Morocco’s RS Berkane.

Fresh off winning the Egypt Cup, Pyramids finished second in the Egyptian Premier League, falling just six points short of champions Al Ahly.
