Ghaly passes doping test in Germany

Egypt midfielder Hossam Ghaly has given a negative sample after conducting a second doping test, his agent Nader Shawki said on Saturday.

Ghaly, who plays for Saudi side Nassr, reportedly faced a one-year ban after testing positive for a banned substance following a cup tie with Hilal.

The first test was conducted in Malaysia but a German anti-doping laboratory has seemingly cleared Ghaly of any wrongdoing.

“The latest test showed that Ghaly did not take any performance-enhancing drugs,” Shawki said.

“He is now eligible to feature in Nassr’s matches in the Saudi Crown Prince Cup.”

Ghaly, was part of Egypt’s 2010 African Cup of Nations winning squad, joined Nassr from English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur in January 2009.

He was linked with a move back to his boyhood club Ahli on several occasions but he expressed his desire to remain at Nassr.
