The Egyptian midfielder moved to the Cairo giants on a free transfer after terminating his contract with Turkish side Kayserispor.
He will earn EGP 10 million during his three-year stay with Ahli, the club he left in the summer of 2007 to join English side Middlesbrough.
The 28-year-old is Ahli’s fifth summer signing after Ghaly, goalkeeper Mahmoud Aboul-Saoud, playmaker Abdul-Hamid Shabana and Egypt forward Mohamed Nagi ‘Geddo’.
The Egyptian league holders are also expected to sign Iraqi striker Mostafa Karim.
