Egypt’s Ahly have been drawn in the African Champions League quarterfinals in the same group as Tunisia’s Esperance, Algerian side Mouloudia and the winner of the decider between Morroco’s Wydad Casablanca and Tanzania’s Simba decider. The match is being played after DR Congo’s Mazembe were disqualified from the competition for fielding an ineligible player.
It will be a tough journey for Ahly who will play their first match between 15-17 July, giving them little chance of a respite after the end of the Egyptian Premier League season on 9 July.
