Tunisia’s Esperance Sportive de Tunis beat Algerian Mouloudia d’Alger 4-0 (3-0 at halftime) in a pool-stage game of the African Football Champions League, played on Saturday evening in El Menzeh Stadium. Esperance’s goals were scored by: Majdi Traoui (9) and Joseph Y. Njang (20, 42 and 54).
The home side were in full control in Tunis, inspired by a superb hat-trick from Cameroonian striker Yannick N’Djeng.
Tunisia international Mejdi Traoui opened the scoring with a powerful shot after being set up by N’Djeng.
Algerian side Mouloudia is going through tough times as shown in its play in the Orange Champions League groups’ stage and were expected to struggle and seemed resigned to defeat against a robust Esperance.
Esperance move to top of Group B with nine points, three more than Wydad Casablanca and four ahead of Al Ahly.
Al Ahly visit Wydad on Sunday in a match that could see the Egyptian champions wave goodbye to the competition from the group stage.
Al Ahly host Esperance in Cairo in the group finale as Wydad visit the already-ousted Alger.
