Egyptian striker and Rio Ave top scorer Ahmed Koka will be sidelined for one month due to injury, the player announced late on Tuesday.
Koka was stretchered off in his side’s Portuguese league game at home to Benfica on Saturday after sustaining an injury.
“I came to the national team camp to inform the coach about my injury. I am suffering a hamstring tear and the medical staff told me that I won’t be available for one month,” Koka explained in a TV statement.
The Equatorial Guinea clash in Cairo will be the first for the Pharaohs under new Argentinean coach Hector Cuper.
“Cuper is a great coach who has worked with big clubs and I think the current generation of players will get a lot from his experience,” added Koka.
Koka is one of Rio Ave’s best performers this term, having netted 15 goals in all competitions so far, including 12 in the Portuguese league.
